Careerists have no choice but to be ruthless also


The above excerpt, from Barbara Moses' book, Career Intelligence, signals the need for careerists to be ruthless also, so as to avoid being at the mercy of employers.


By "ruthless", I don't mean being "callous and mean", but being "crystal clear about what you do and how you create value."

The majority of people, unfortunately, do not know how they contribute to their employers' success. A recent survey by the Conference Board in the U.S. found that 65% of workers do not identify with the business objectives of their employers (this finding has been reported by professor Shoshana Zuboff in Fast Company magazine).
